I’ve loved pomegranates since before they were considered a cool fruit, and it’s good to know that it’s not only yummy but also considered a superfood. I’ve always just eaten mine straight out of the rind, but recipes like Shaina’s Quinoa, Clementine and Pomegranate Stuffed Squash that she shared last week definitely make me want to branch out!

Here are 9 more recipes that have my mouth wondering:

I like the flavor, can’t stand the seeds. Is there any way to get around that other than drinking the juice?

Love pomegranate! Throw half a fruit’s worth in chocolate chip cookies – they turn out very soft but yummy!

This post is perfect timing for me – thanks!

I think #5 is one I could certainly use some work on … we don’t have enough plants in the house and I think they’d help brighten up some of the dreary January days ahead …

    Thanks for the inspiration!

while decluttering or rethinking your accessories and ‘house things’, put everything you don’t want or need or are tired of in a big box and encourage your closest friends to do the same thing and have a ‘swap meet’ amongst yourselves! whatever they don’t want might be something you love – one person’s junk…! whatever is left over can either be yard saled or donated.

I love the idea of recycling items for a new purpose. Some of my favorite decorative touches are creative applications for old items: spoons bent into coat hooks, an old painted mailbox used as a pot for dried flowers, and an an old soda crate used to organize jewelry. These are the pieces that make my home unique.

      touches!

Mandi – Very good post. It has caused me to think a whole lot about how I’m approaching my daily life. I realize that my routine has much room for improvement, which in terms could result in a much happier more fulfilling day. Most days I feel like I’m on a race against time. I’m a stay at home wife and mother of 4 (17mos – 15 years). After reading this post, a light bulb came on! I think the true challenge for me personally will be staying comitted to the new routine. I love your site and am eager to learn and apply practical ways to improve my daily routine. Thanks again!

I am okay with saying no to a lot of things now even though I know a lot of people think that selfish. At our previous church (switched after we moved), which was a small church, hubby and I had a huge load (strange because you wouldn’t think we’d make up the bulk of church leadership in our early 20s, and what we really needed was some mentoring and fellowship, instead of serving serving and more serving) and it caused some burn out. Between the 2 of us, we were involved in leading worship, leading youth group, Christian Ed dept, VBS director, etc. Now with 2 kids of our own and at a new church, we wanted to make own relationship with the Lord a priority and our family as well. It didn’t make sense to minister to others when we weren’t even spending time with the Lord. Anyhow, I’m a little long winded here, and just wanted to say that it is hard when society makes you seem lazy if you’re not busy busy busy and involved in every event. And it’s tough because our friends’ kids are participating in a million activities, and it makes me feel like our kids are missing out when I don’t spend money to sign my baby up for music classes. For me, I don’t think I put myself as a priority. My hubby works hard and I don’t want him to have to deal with other home tasks, etc when he comes home so I do it all myself. I probably shouldn’t do that. Even though we don’t have a TV, technology is a big time waster…checking every few minutes to see if anyone responded to an email or comment. =p I need to prioritize more to make everything more balanced I guess.

Joyce, I think this is spot on: “just wanted to say that it is hard when
society makes you seem lazy if you’re not busy busy busy and involved in
every event.” It’s so true that busyness is valued in our culture, which
puts a lot of pressure on everybody!

I think being able to focus on other people’s needs above our own is an
important quality for moms because there are certainly times that this is
necessary! But there needs to be balance or we’ll get burnt out!

  • http://yourway.net Mandi @ Life Your Way

Absolutely — there’s a huge difference between what we say our priorities
are and what our actions show that they really are!
