I really like breakfast foods, but I don’t always like making them in the morning, which might explain why we have “breakfast for dinner” so often! I’m really good at making breakfast ahead of time before I have a baby (when I stock the freezer full of muffins, pancakes and french toast) and the night before Christmas, but I’d love to start keeping the freezer stocked to make things easier on Sean and so that we can enjoy delicious, homemade breakfasts even in the middle of a busy week!

We are attempting to print a yearly book with all our favorite photos. I also have a notebook with the cute things the kids say as well as some in a word document. I recently started using 280daily to record what we are doing and what the kids are saying.

I blog. I’m also trying to do a yearly printed photo album. I still have some catching up to do though…

I have just started using AboutOne and it’s made it easy to jot down all the cute things my kids do.

I’m almost out of most cleaning products (glass cleaner, mopping solution, antibacterial counter cleaner, etc.). I started thinking about how expensive each of these is to buy, and how I’m often not satisfied with the results. So, my one thing is going to be to learn how to make many of my own cheaper, “greener” cleaning products. The vinegar solution I used to mop the laminate flooring this morning seemed to work just as well as the stuff I’d previously bought without the sticky feel it left behind.

i discovered that if you boil your vinegar first (i use a small stock pot about 2/3 full of vinegar) and then add it to boiling water with a drop or two of dish soap – all into your mop bucket - linoleum floors shine and are wonderfully degreased from summer footprints and cooking.  :o

and ps i use vinegar for everything – if you put it in a spray bottle, spray it on any surface you need to clean, walk away for a few minutes and then wipe, it has the same strength of anti-bacterial-ness as a potent chemical cleaner.  i use vinegar for everything!  so cheap and safe and non-toxic with a little one around the house.  think about it – our grandmothers had nothing vinegar and maybe arm and hammer to clean with!  :o )  happy ‘greening’!

I think I’m just about ready to tackle homemade yogurt! A few months ago I convinced my husband to make the switch from his trusty Yoplait, first to individual containers of Greek yogurt, and then to big tubs of natural yogurt like Nancy’s. I love that he is now eating something MUCH healthier and that we have eliminated all that waste from individual containers…but now I’d like to eliminate even more waste (and save some money) by making our own!

At 31 weeks into my pregnancy, I’m really just trying to survive the summer with a smile on my face. It’s hot here in Missouri!

We have been really bad to fritter away our weekly spending money and then wonder where it all went. We are going back to cash for our gas, groceries and eating out money. I think it will help keep it from slipping through our fingers so fast and having to dip into other money designated for something else.
    Who makes the rules anyway?

This is perfect timing for me because I’m getting ready to write about financial goals!  I too found Dave Ramsey to be very inspiring, even though we haven’t totally followed his TMM plan.  And I think an emergency fund is essential in this economic climate.

This year, I do want to be more purposeful about stocking up on things in advance & at lower prices.

  • Melissa

I agree that using cash is such a great way to stick to a spending plan, especially when it comes to the fun stuff. When our eating out money for the month is gone, it’s gone. Using CC we always went over. I’m not quite ready to switch with gas yet. I know most stations charge less if you pay with cash, which is great, but with two small children, getting them out of the car to go in and pay just isn’t worth it. I need pay at the pump in this stage of life!

    • http://lifeyourway.net Mandi @ Life Your Way

Agreed, Melissa! We also keep our gas budget a little more fluid since we only come “to town” web we need to and don’t have quite as much control over that line item!

I don’t like top scrapbook, but the digital scrapbooking idea really appeals to me. I have many years to sort, but they are all on the computer now. Having an album made for Christmas would be wonderful. Thanks for the offer…hope I win.

Agreed — it’s important to be a team rather than adversaries each fighting for what you want!!
